Day One of the Campaign

April 11th, 2005

I have declared this to be Day One of my “Full Campaign”. I have now freed myself from the tyranny of my clerk, and am able to be a full-time politician.  Is this a good thing?  Elections have to be fought seriously, and this means canvassing, public meetings and running a
campaign.

Over the past eight months, I have had to juggle work, family and campaigning, so I am relieved to be on the trail.  This is the end of months of hard work and the beginning of even harder work.
Started the day with a letter delivery in Grange Park – plans for a twelve metre mobile phone base station to be situated next to Tregoze Primary School are causing deep concern.  More of this campaign in later instalments, I am very sure.

Spent the day knocking doors in Liden – concerns over development at Coate loomed large, understandably.  National Tory policy is clear – less green field development, more brown field development and more green belt.
