A Trip down Marlborough Road

April 20th, 2005

Observant motorists (including your blogmaster) would have seen a pretty sight on Marlborough Road this evening - a group of blue rosetted canvassers, including your candidate, doorstepping unsuspecting residents.

Why canvass?  Call me old-fashioned, but door-to-door visits are still the best way of meeting electors.

Mass audiences can be reached via TV, radio and the net, but there’s nothing like a voter being able to see the whites of your eyes.  A brief chat on a doorstep isn’t going to change the world, but at least people can have direct access to candidates, ask them questions and judge the merchandise.
