MP for South Swindon, Robert Buckland has welcomed the news that charity, Jessie May will receive Government funding.
Robert had previously met with the charity to discuss an increase in provision across Swindon and show his support for their amazing work.
The charity were recently in touch with the MP as they were concerned that the increase in pay for NHS nurses left a shortfall for them to keep up with without having the same rise in funding from the NHS.
This week, the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt released a statement in the House of Commons announcing AfC staff in the NHS will also receive a share of the funds to increase pay of NHS nurses.
Robert said: “I am pleased that I could highlight this issue with the Government and the results of these actions taken by the Government means that the Jessie May charity will be able to continue to carry out their excellent work and support for many children and families.”
The Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home supports hundreds of children with life limiting conditions and their families across Swindon, Wiltshire, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset.
The charity provide vital respite and emotional support to families who are dealing with an incredibly tough situation and ensure families are able to create lasting memories together.
