It was lovely to be back at Badbury Park Primary School on Friday, one of our newest schools in Swindon, serving the community of Badbury Park and indeed the wider community as well. Whilst I was at the school, I was delighted to be asked to judge their first ever Poetry Slam Competition.
My local charity of the week is Hospital Radio Swindon, a free radio service for the patients and staff at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, which is run solely by volunteers. I am delighted to have been a guest of Hospital Radio Swindon.
I was pleased to visit Future Smiths CIC here in Swindon, which is an incubator to help small businesses grow their turnover, grow their jobs and their profits.
We discussed linking this new organisation with existing networks to focus on jobs of the future and grow Swindon's economy.
Many of us will have seen the news coverage of the concerning events in Birmingham at the weekend, where three people were attacked by an out-of-control XL Bully dog. This sadly follows a rise in attacks on people, pets, and livestock.
A lot of residents have contacted me with concerns about the American XL Bully dog, which is a breed of dog that has been bred from the Pitbull. And we've seen in recent weeks and months really stark evidence and concerning footage of attacks on other dogs and indeed attack on people as well.
